2013 seems like a blur...or is that just me? It's October and we're 3 months away from a new year. Are you ready? Have you achieved what you set out to achieve? Me neither.
In an effort to get back to some of the original priorities I set for myself, I'm getting (back) into goal setting and accountability. This is a new day and a new blog, people. I want to share with you my journey through body (weight loss, strength building, Crossfitting, functional food, etc), through heart, development, music, and beyond. Some posts will be really boring (this is going to be one of them) and focus solely on facts and tools I'm using to "get there". Others will (I'm sure), wax poetic... No one loves words more than I.
One thing I want to share with you guys are the steps I'm taking to get and stay healthy. I have people ask me, as they see my body change, what I'm doing. My answer? A freaking LOT of hard word and sacrifice. Everyone wants an easy answer, and hard works looks and needs to be different for all of us. So in an effort to make this a short one, here's what my day looked like:
6:15- Alarm goes off. I actually went to bed at a (semi) reasonable hour, so I feel refreshed. Hop in the shower, check email out of habit (not in that order).
6:40- Out of shower and getting ready for work. No breakfast. I fast until I eat lunch everyday. LOTS of h20 and double shot of espresso- black. I take a probiotic, rodiola (to suppress cortisol release which is at its peak around 7:00 am), and a kelp (I'm not hypothyroid, but I'll give that little gland all the help I can).
7:00- Beckham wakes up and cuddles for 5 minutes. Sweetest moment of my day. Has breakfast with his dad while I keep getting ready for my day.
7:25- Out the door to work. Stuck in traffic, of course.
8:00- Arrive at work
11:30- Starvin'. Eat a salad with greens, grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, a tiny bit of feta, peppers, cucumbers, and balsamic vinaigrette. I want more, but I've really had enough.
4:30- Out the door, run home and turbo change, kiss my baby, out the door...Took some tri-pep goodness.
5:30- Workout at my favorite place. Front squats 5x5x5x5x5 building sets. Started at 53#, worked up to 153# before acknowledging that my sweet bruises from Friday were not going to allow me to keep building up using a front rack position.
Aaron modified my WOD so I don't keep (literally) beating myself useless: 21-15-9 of 35# KB swings and modified dips (on heels only). Finished in 4:30 sweaty and happy (although I really wish I could've done the 95# cleans the WOD called for...) Finished with a protein shake (Intek Evolution).
After a dinner of chicken basil stir fry with about 1/2 cup of white rice, and ok, I'll admit it- some wine- my night and sleep was restless and my throat started getting a bit sore... uh-oh. More soon...
