Guys.... can we talk for a minute? We're 1/4 of the way through 2014. How are you doing on your goals? Wishes? Plans?
I promised you all in several blogs that my life has been, and would continue to be, about big changes, embracing fear, and hopefully finding and leaving inspiration along the way. But, that's really abstract, isn't it?
It's time to get real. Get focused. Get change a'rolling.
So- while I have SEVERAL really big, scary things going on, I'm issuing a challenging to myself in regards to TWO of the most important things I have going on in my life (short of my raising my son..he's ALWAYS the "unspoken" most important thing. Of course.).
Chances are, if we haven't met in person, you only know me because of my body. Ha. That's weird, but true. I HAVE been known to rock some sweet spandex on national television. In the past year, I've lost a little over 50 lbs and am thrilled with the lifestyle I've created doing crossfit and eating clean. BUT, I realize I'm taking my sweet time with lots of goals and getting pretty lax on my expectations for my diet and exercise performance. SO, I'm putting it out there- here it is! Goal: For the next 10 weeks (starting tomorrow, March 25th and going until my 29th birthday on June 3rd), I will be blogging everything I eat and drink, and sharing my workouts with you. I'll take measurements and will share my progress with you weekly in a way that maintains SOME amount of privacy, but hopefully keeps me accountable and inspires YOU. I'll be focusing on calorie control (I've got the quality part of food down, but am not great at the quantity part), and on overcoming some obstacles I have at the gym (to be evaluated). It should be a weird, humbling, productive journey. Get ready for some instagram awesomeness of my meals, some workout vids, and more. My only set, black and white goals are to aim for between 1500-1700 calories per day, with one optional 2000 calorie day per week, and a non-negotiable 130 grams of protein per day.
It's been pretty hush hush, but in February I went into the recording studio and cut a record. It's honestly, really, truly, alarmingly the most excited I've ever been about music EVER. I'm working on getting it ready to be released (summer 2014), but in the meantime, I'm shifting my focus from a bunch of random life ideas and mental "stuff" to focusing on sinking into what feels right. What feels right- more right than anything I've ever known- is writing, sharing and performing this music. So, my goal for my music? Be vulnerable with it. Expose it. Share it with you- share the stories, the songs, the journey. Once a week, you can expect an update in the form of a blog, youtube video, an original song, a cover song, or something else fun and exciting that I think you might like. Music has always been what I've wanted to do with my life, and to admit that to myself as an adult who has grown into a too-practical almost-pessimist, requires a lot of faith in believing that my heart won't lead my astray. I haven't been ready to do this until now, but now that I'm "there", I can't imagine NOT doing it.
So, there is it. Until my 29th birthday, 10 weeks from tomorrow, I will be a body-finessing, music-making machine and sharing it with you all- the glorious accomplishments, delicious setbacks, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I hope you'll enjoy the ride, share YOUR journey with ME, and follow along with me. Day 1 starts tomorrow. Who's with me?
